Film Review:Pirates of Caribbean:On Stranger Tides

Even though so much bad comments or disappointing feelings are raised from audience who have watched Pirates of Caribbean:On Stranger Tides. This movies still goes on its way very well:a decent box office is a powerful proof.

Summary: Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica, Captain Jack Sparrow is not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge,” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard, Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past.

The newest shipmates include Penélope Cruz as Angelica, a former lover of Capt. Jack and 7 beautiful but more or less horrible mermaids apperaed in white-cup bay.But the most attractive role is Cap.Sparrow.

The whole movie can not be considered as a clear and in-order story, there are so many different characters in the movies, even the movies is time-consuming enough, but average to those characters, still not enough, how to perform?

However, there are some worthy points for us to watch and appreciate, even not many.

To be honest, I was moved by Serena and Philipp’s pure love but I was not able to understand fully why Philipp finally went down to the sea with a kiss from Serena, will he die?Or he would become a male-mermaid?I do not know and I know it is good to leave some imagination to audience but should be in a reasonalble way.

Whatever,Cap.Sparrow is still the most interesting role in Tides, his golden teeth, funny but flextible movements when he fights with others, still can make audience laugh but we have to admit that not much as previous 3 movies.

I think the movie still have character: Barbossa is wise. Barbossa makes the whole movies more interesting and perform a different charateristics compared with previous 3 movies. We can see he was brave enough to leave his leg but to save his loved ship Blackpearl from Black beard. He is borned to be a true pirate.

Not surprisingly, everyone wants a piece of the action, so the seas are soon crowded with tall ships, some manned by the British with Barbossa carrying an old grudge. There’s Blackbeard’s boat with Angelica, Capt. Jack and the zombies, who frankly aren’t all that fearful, just a bit more motley than the average crew. Then to make things more complicated (one of the franchise’s fatal flaws), we have the Spanish, who show up early for everything and add another layer to the weird religious thread started by Philip and carried through the film.

Finding the fountain is just the start; its powers can only be unlocked by mermaid tears, silver chalices, unfiltered water and a mixology degree are involved.

In a short,Tides can not be considered as classice as its previous 3 movies, but it is still worthy to watch it in the cinema and you may find some funny and interesting points as me.
